There are those who defend Blizzard due to this kind of nonsense. They use weak arguments, such as "if players would like Horde, that's how it's going to be, it's impossible to stop people from playing Horde", when in reality that's very possible.

Blizzard may allow the change of faction from Horde or Alliance for free, but they are just too stupid to do so. "This was not an option in the initial TBC" is their response and they're selling 6-month game time that includes a Mount or Pet that was not in the original TBC, that completely breaks immersion since it's the only mount that has modern animation.

One of the main reasons is they can't return the rabbit to the hat. It's a permanent modification to the game. And I also think they're scared that cross play will eventually result in an alliance or horde identity being lost, which is a problem considering the amount of marketing it generates.
